Wild and free, Winter should last longer
Jacopo brings a wild-heart energy to the Julian Alps, drawn to fresh powder, spring missions, and lines that feel a little more “out there.” Based in Trieste with the mountains close, he lives for early alarms, sunshine on a cold face, and that first set of turns when winter feels endless. His style is driven and determined: he’s proud of being able to keep moving even when he’s tired, and he thrives when the day has a bit of adventure baked in.
But beneath the “winter should last longer” spirit is something very grounded: respect. Jacopo has seen how quickly serious terrain can become serious consequences, like the day a friend took a long slide down a steep, hardpacked couloir and the helicopter call felt one step away. Moments like that sharpen what matters to him most: being with the right people. He chooses partners who share the same healthy level of fear, the same judgment, and the same willingness to turn back when the snowpack or the vibe says “not today”, so there’s no arguing, only clear decisions. On big days he keeps things practical too: when fatigue hits, he goes for gels instead of forcing solid food, and after a broken strap at the top of a line he now carries spare parts on longer tours. Finish the day with a big lager (and maybe a couple of small rum shots tucked away for later), and you’ve got Jacopo’s kind of post-tour celebration.
