Skida is built on open data. Behind every slope angle, terrain profile, snow layer and weather forecast is a network of data providers,  government agencies, research institutions, non-profit organizations, and commercial partners. Together they make it possible to create a richer and more accurate view of the mountains than traditional mapping platforms typically offer.

Instead of relying on a single source, Skida blends terrain models, weather services, avalanche forecasts, satellite data and local datasets from around the world. The result is a map that is constantly evolving, shaped by new technology, better data and collaboration across borders.

In a way, building Skida isn’t that different from brewing a modern pastry stout: it takes a lot more ingredients than the traditional recipe, but the extra complexity brings a lot more flavour to the table. And yes — Bjarte, Skida’s co-founder, is a former professional brewer and unapologetic pastry stout enthusiast.
