Checking the weather is one of the simplest (and most underrated) safety steps you can take before heading into the mountains. And yet, it’s surprisingly easy to end up in the classic “Toby situation”: gear packed, plan ready, motivation high… and then you realize you never actually checked wind, precipitation, or temperature at the elevation you’re going to.
